Simple Video Driver – Using Images (Intro to Using Video 2 of 3)

Table of Contents
Description

The P2 Simple Video Driver can include bitmap images to enhance your video display. With this guide, we demonstrate creating, saving, and importing the image into your code.

The bitmap image format is important, and to keep your image file sizes as small as possible. So always save in 8-bit bitmap format, and keep the total image size less than 512 kB.

Once an image has been imported into your code, you can display it multiple times on the screen, and with transparency control of other objects, you can write text, draw or blend images, lines or text over the images too. For example, a common technique with screen buttons is to import an image for the button background, then write different text on top.

At lower resolutions (to keep within the file limit of 512 kB) you could even create a background image for the entire screen, to make a really professional-looking product display.
