(You may be able to adapt the Prop Plug as a replacement).

The USB2SER provides an easy way to interface a PC to a microcontroller. It bridges the PC’s USB port to logic-level RX and TX signals that can connect directly to a microcontroller’s I/O pins. To the PC, the USB2SER appears as a virtual COM port. To the microcontroller, the USB2SER appears as a true 5 V serial connection consisting of a RX signal, a TX signal, and a low-pulsing RESET signal controlled by ‘DTR’.

Features:
  • Utilizes the FTDI FT231X
  • USB power, no external supply required
  • Four-pin female SIP connector with 0.1″ spacing to interface to the microcontroller circuit
  • Red and blue LEDs to indicate TX and RX activity
  • Debugging embedded microcontrollers through a UART
  • Supports standard baud rates and custom rates, 300 baud to 3 megabaud
  • 4.5 to 5.5 VDC
  • 15 mA typical
  • Full speed USB, full duplex 5 V non-inverted TTL serial from 300 baud to 57.6 kilobaud
  • 1.25 x 0.47 x 0.29 in (31.8 x 12 x 7.4 mm)
  • -40° to +185° F (-40° to +85° C)
  • PCB assembled, tested, and completed in Rocklin, California
