Description

Parallax is accepting up to 75 educators in the Shield-Bot with Arduino distance learning workshop April 19, 21, and 23rd! No prior experience is necessary, but we ask that you teach an applicable subject in coding, robotics, STEM, etc in middle school or high school. The workshop is free to American educators and includes the robot kit.

Shield-Bot with Arduino

The Shield-Bot with Arduino is the most popular robotic kit for the Arduino, thanks to the combination of a complete curriculum and spiral-bound printed book, the availability of the Arduino in education, and the support from Parallax. The strengths of this robot are in C coding, robotics, sensors, control, and electronic circuit building. Educators who use the Shield-Bot for Arduino have an established history and future in this kit (they’re dedicated!).

Before you choose this workshop over the other two workshops (cyber:bot with Python and ActivityBot 360 with BlocklyProp), get a look at the comparison, which provides links to the curriculum and the strengths of this kit in education.

Apply as early as possible and before March 26th

Apply for the workshop and register for the Zoom meetings at the two links below. Clear your calendar for 1.5 hours on each of these afternoons (adjust PST to your own time zone). If you meet the criteria stated in the application you are automatically approved for the course. We normally approve applications within the week they are submitted. We may fill the course before March 26th. Apply only if you are committed to the workshop, else you may be taking a position from another educator. We won’t have much time to juggle applications, acceptances, and robot shipments when somebody changes their mind.

Next, we send you the Shield-Bot for Arduino robot kit

Once we confirm your acceptance, we’ll send you the robot kit and instructions for the first Zoom workshop. You’ll build the cyber:bot between the first and second meetings. You’ll have about an hour of homework after each class and we’ll be available for support questions in between. The workshops are interactive Zoom sessions — we’ll be building circuits and writing code together, on-line, live! You’ll need to carefully arrange your workspace, preferably with one display for coding and another for following the presentation.

Questions?

Session 1 of 3 (March 30, 2020) – Shield-Bot for Arduino Distance Learning for Educators
Session 2 of 3 (April 1, 2020) – Shield-Bot for Arduino Distance Learning for Educators
Session 3 of 3 (April 2, 2020) – Shield-Bot for Arduino Distance Learning for Educators
