Propeller Customers,

We’ve been out of stock of the Propeller 1 DIP chips (P8X32A-D40) for quite some time now. Many of you are using these in through-hole production projects. I’d like to bring you current on the inventory situation.

We’ve just received about 12K units of the P8X32A-D40 from our packaging company in Taiwan. These chips are shown in the six boxes in the above photo I took two days ago in Rocklin, California. Our next step is to test the chips and add them to our inventory. This will take about two weeks, and as they trickle into inventory you can buy them. In the meantime, you can add yourself to the email WaitList for notifications or submit a purchase order to our sales team to skip the line.

How did we run out of a core product? We had to process some export paperwork from the semiconductor manufacturer that came into existence as a result of recent world events. It took us almost 10 months to get through the process, as we used FedEx to send pieces of paper between Austria, Taiwan, and the United States — twice! We had to sign with certain colors of ink, stamp documents with our company “chop”, and compose many e-mail messages. During this time our orders were being held at the semiconductor manufacturer and not making it to the packaging company in Taiwan. The process was frustrating and time consuming, but now the supply chain has resumed some normalcy.

Thank you for your patience. The Propeller 1 and 2 Multicore Microcontrollers are core products of ours, and they will be available for many years to come!
