Parallax Exhibits at CUE Conference in Palm Springs, California

Table of Contents

Parallax just returned from the CUE conference in Palm Springs, where we connected with educators and showcased our cyber:bot platform through hands-on programming stations. Teachers engaged in live coding with our robots, experiencing firsthand the kind of active learning we aim to bring to classrooms. Quite a few had no experience with the micro:bit module, our favorite educational tool for coding, robotics, and electronics. With 25 years in education, we’ve seen all the trends but recognize the micro:bit as checking all the boxes (like Python, browser-based programming, low cost, built-in sensors, etc). An investment in this hardware will provide return for many years.

I’ve been to many conferences in my career, perhaps over 100 of them. CUE stands out with exceptional presentations with a focus on California’s interest in STEM and Career Technology Education. As for the informal discussion, teachers were talking about AI in STEM education, some uncertainty around equipment funding, but had high enthusiasm for their purpose.

We continue to hold our course in sustainable education products and curriculum that focus on first-order principles in engineering, minimizing black boxes and abstraction, and providing tools that inspire students to pursue productive careers. During our time, many companies have come and gone.
