Dear Community:
Customers often ask me, “Do you know a good embedded engineer who’s available?” My usual answer is that the best engineers are rarely available. Today, however, I have a special introduction to make to other product developers and companies.
Meet Michael Mulholland
I’m pleased to introduce Michael Mulholland, our behind-the-scenes senior electronics engineer who has been an important force at Parallax for more than a decade. Michael has led the design and development of over 70 Parallax products, including many of our core platforms built around the micro:bit and the Propeller 1 and 2 multicore microcontrollers. From concept and schematic design through PCB layout, firmware collaboration, production onboarding, and long-term support, Michael has repeatedly turned complex ideas into reliable, manufacturable, and successful products. His work has helped Parallax deliver robust educational and industrial solutions with shorter time-to-market and long service life—exactly the qualities our customers have relied on from us for over 30 years.
Great engineers must also work well with teams. Michael is polite, considerate, and genuinely listens to the customer. He has worked remotely with Parallax while remaining fully integrated into our business, earning the respect of our entire staff. He brings the best of British professionalism and politeness with an easy, collaborative style that works seamlessly with our American teams.
Michael’s Engineering Services Now Available for Hire
We’re currently caught up on our engineering and Michael is now available to work with other companies as an external engineering resource. The ideal fit is a company developing products around the Parallax Propeller 1 or 2 (though Michael works with all modern processors), allowing you to leverage his deep experience and our existing design ecosystem. There is also an opportunity to combine Michael’s design work with manufacturing at Parallax’s Rocklin, California facility, enabling a smooth transition from concept to professionally built “Made in USA” production.
If your company’s needs align with Michael’s skills, we invite you to contact him directly to discuss your project. Just don’t get too comfortable—we’re sharing him to keep him productive while we get caught up, but we will need him back.
You don’t need Parallax in between the communication or transactions. If it’s good for your organization and good for Michael, then it’s also good for us. His e-mail is michael@atomitech.co.uk.
Sincerely,
Ken Gracey
