No approval is required from Parallax to install the SimpleIDE software on your institution's computers. In fact, this is the intended audience for SimpleIDE. Like many modern software programs, SimpleIDE (propside) and the Propeller GCC compiler for the P8X32A multicore microcontroller (propgcc) are Parallax open-source initiatives. Parallax maintains an official distribution branch of the project to be released as Parallax approved software on this website, the projects are posted on GitHub. Parallax strives to keep the features and functions of this distribution of SimpleIDE in line with the needs of educational institutions to provide a consistent and trustworthy user experience. The C libraries for the Propeller C Tutorial program are offered under the MIT License.

Supports Debian, Mint, and Ubuntu Linux (Intel 32/64-bit). IMPORTANT: Requires the following dependencies: ctags, libaudio, libQtCore, and libftdi1 (also manually available from the FTDI Driver Download Page).
