Propeller 2 Multicore Microcontroller: Take a Closer Look, Join Wednesday’s Live Forum!

Table of Contents

Dear Community,

You have likely seen the Propeller 2 Multicore Microcontroller from Parallax, but have you really taken a close look? The tools, ecosystem, and community are constantly evolving and improving, and our customers are now building successful products. Our most successful applications are environmental sensing, traffic/pedestrian counting, brushless motor control, Internet of Things (IoT) with the Raspberry Pi, robotics, and medical equipment.

Why are they using the Propeller 2? Parallel control of eight cores that provide access to all I/O pins, plus four fast DAC output channels and ADC on every single pin. Direct control over HDMI and VGA displays is commonly used in products requiring a user interface, too. Almost all of the applications use some combination of these features.

Our Propeller 2 was designed by Chip Gracey and the community, and it’s made in the United States. The characterization, development tools, and examples take a long time to produce with our small company size. But we’re slowly getting these things accomplished and this is a good time to start with the Propeller 2. And we’re the only semiconductor company where you can talk directly to the designer. You can ask him anything and he’s a regular fellow.

One easy way to see what the Propeller 2 can do is to take a look at the Quick Bytes for examples. Even better, join the community this Wednesday at the Propeller Live Forum at 1:00 pm Pacific time. The topic of this week’s meeting is the P2’s new RAM file system from Chip Gracey and Stephen Morocco. The file system application lets us easily read and write files of all types to RAM. Sign up for this week’s event here even if you are unable to attend so we can send you the video afterward https://www.parallax.com/propeller-live-forum-september-13th-2023/. Last month, we showed the brushless motor control applications

In the coming months, you’ll be seeing more announcements and applications for the Propeller 2 from Parallax.

Thank you,

Ken Gracey, CEO
Parallax Inc.
