Parallax is making significant steps towards being the top micro:bit reseller in the USA. You’re aware of the resources we put around these little modules: the cyber:bot, cybersecurity curriculum, the What’s a Microcontroller? with Python kits, and our free Educator Workshops.
And it seems I can’t stop talking about it, everywhere I go.
The reason we’ve invested so heavily in the micro:bit is simple: it’s specifically designed for education and it checks all the boxes! The Python interpreter, built-in hardware and radio, display, and low cost make this device a game-changer in education. Browser-based programming, no driver installation, or FERPA/COPPA compliance seal the deal in education. There’s little reason to reinvent what works so well, so we’ve put many resources into the future of this device.
We’re already five years into micro:bit support, but Parallax has 25 years of experience in microcontroller education. During this time, we’ve seen (and created) many of the trends which will persist for years to come. We will continue to grow the other ecosystems we support and sell (BASIC Stamp, Arduino, Propeller 1, Raspberry Pi), as each one has its own benefits. We will have ongoing support for the micro:bit.
We are an authorized Reseller (and 2022-2023 Channel Partner!) for the Micro:bit Educational Foundation. With this agreement comes the responsibility to our customers in the form of service, reputation, pricing, and supply.
If you’re an educator who is new to physical computing and doesn’t know where to start, it’s all right here. You can also call us on the Educator Hotline at (916) 701-8625 anytime.
