Get equipped for hands-on robotics in your classroom with the ActivityBot 360° and visual BlocklyProp programming. The strengths of this robot are in programming logic, robotics, project-based learning, and electronic circuit building. The robot’s Propeller Activity Board WX has many useful features (wireless socket, audio amplifier, A/D converter) and may be used for other projects. The browser-based BlocklyProp programming environment includes a library of blocks for many sensors and accessories so custom student projects are more easily achieved. It collects no student data so there are no COPPA compliance concerns. Designed with high school in mind, this program adapts well to middle school and college too.
Workshop Activities:
- Set up your programming connection to the Propeller Activity Board WX
- Create programs in the online BlocklyProp programming environment
- Assemble your ActivityBot 360°
- Write programs for basic ActivityBot navigation
- Connect DIY sensor circuits and write programs for autonomous navigation with sensors
- Survey the student and educator resources including the cyber:bot and cybersecurity tutorials and assessment materials
Applications for this course are now closed.
To those accepted, we will email approvals with a link to register for the Zoom sessions, and send out a free ActivityBot 360° Robot Kit. Notifications go out several weeks before the course if not earlier. Hands-on activities will be done during the three 2-hour Zoom sessions, with brief homework assigned before each session. The Zoom sessions will be recorded and posted publicly to YouTube, in case you miss a session. Afterwards, an 8-hour certification of completion will be available upon request (attendance will be taken!)
