Over the past two decades, Gavin Garner has had great success in using Parallax equipment to teach fundamental concepts in his Mechatronics and Machine Design courses to engineering students at the University of Virginia. This spring semester, he developed a new curriculum around the Propeller 2 chip for his survey course in Mechatronics. He also designed and fabricated 100 custom experimenter boards and kits based around the P2 Edge Module and shipped one of these out to each of his students so that they could learn remotely from the safety of their own homes. Prof. Garner is currently working with Parallax to finish and publish a book titled “Exploring Mechatronics” that will feature lots of experiments and useful examples based around the exciting new Propeller 2 chip.
