On-Demand Workshop: Shield-Bot Robotics with Arduino Uno

Educator Workshop includes six hours of YouTube instructions to follow at your own pace, live support via Zoom if needed, and a certificate for 8 hours of professional development for qualified educators.

Get equipped to teach a series of lessons that introduce circuit building, mechanical assembly, and text-based Arduino programming with a durable yet affordable Shield-Bot.   The Robot Shield with Arduino is the most popular robotics kit for the Arduino, thanks to the combination of a complete curriculum, the availability of the Arduino in education, and the support from Parallax.  Designed with high school in mind, this program adapts well to middle school and college too.

Workshop activities:

  • Get set up for programming the Arduino Uno on Windows, Mac, or Chromebook
  • Control robot motors through Arduino sketches that set servo speeds and directions
  • Assemble, calibrate, and test-drive the Shield-Bot robot
  • Connect sensor circuits and write sketches for autonomous robot navigation
  • Survey the student and educator resources for the program.
