Interested in the micro:bit and want to learn more? Or maybe you have micro:bit modules for your classroom but don’t know what to do with them? Start here for a 2-hour hands-on guided introduction.
The micro:bit module is ideal for adding a hands-on element to all manner of STEM subjects. With onboard sensors, display, and radio, there is much to do with it alone. Combine it with a robot chassis or electronics kit, and the possibilities grow. Barriers to getting started are minimized with low cost hardware and no-cost, easy-to-use browser based programming tools.
This free workshop is open to middle school, high school, and college educators teaching STEM subjects. For the best experience, purchase a micro:bit GO Bundle in advance to use during the workshop. If that is not possible, the online micro:bit simulator is also an option.
Workshop activities:
- Set up your micro:bit module programming connection
- Write Block code and Python scripts to interact with the micro:bit display and sensors
- Edit and save scripts
- See how the micro:bit supports experiential learning in coding, robotics, electronics, and cybersecurity courses
- Locate student and teacher resources from micro:bit, Parallax, and CYBER.ORG
