Python and robotics with the cyber:bot is our first educational theme in 2020! We're starting with a webinar for the world-wide audience (January 14th) and an Educator's Workshop in Rocklin, California (February 13th). The cyber:bot is based on the ever-popular BBC Microbit computer and programmed with Python (a Propeller 1 is on board to extend the capabilities significantly). The webinar and workshop will include live demonstrations and a sneak-peek at the upcoming Bluetooth cybersecurity examples. See below to register for both events!
I'm also answering the Parallax Educator's Hotline this month at (916) 701-8625. Teachers can call to talk about anything related to their use of Parallax's educational products - like initial setup, getting a quote, moving from one robot to another, or to simply tell us what you need from Parallax so you can be more productive. Educators are often surprised that they can get help so fast - call the Educator's Hotline and give it a try!

P.S. If Python isn't your fit and you're more interested in BlocklyProp, next week's e-mail will offer similar webinar and workshop opportunities for the ActivityBot 360°, our most popular robot!
REGISTER FOR OUR INTERACTIVE WEBINAR ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 14TH
Parallax webinars are an inspiring and productive use of an hour. In this webinar, we'll cover cyber:bot assembly, circuit building, software environment, Python scripting, tutorials, standards alignment, and assessment materials. You'll see live demonstrations of light following, line-following, object avoidance (infrared sensors, ultrasonic), and two Bluetooth radio examples planned for our upcoming cybersecurity tutorials. Our webinars are interactive - we want your questions and comments through the audio or the chat function. If the time (1:00 pm Pacific) isn't convenient for you, please register anyway to receive the on-demand video link afterward. Two cyber:bot robot kits will be given away to live attendees, too!
EDUCATOR'S WORKSHOP AT PARALLAX IN ROCKLIN, CALIFORNIA ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 13TH
If you can travel, the best way to get started with the cyber:bot is to come to our one-day Educator's Workshop in Rocklin, California (near Sacramento) on February 13th. This is a full-day immersive professional development opportunity where you build and program your own cyber:bot, share insights and learn how to teach with Parallax tutorials. This workshop has no cost, includes lunch and is limited to 20 educators. Apply with the link below!
