The Parallax Robotics and Microcontrollers Expo occurred this past week (April 13 & 14) and it was a blast! The news spread throughout the community and we had over 2,000 visitors who stopped by to help us celebrate National Robotics Week. Our farthest travelers came from Asia!
There was something for everyone at the expo. Kids learned to solder and created fun LED badges at our soldering station. Boy Scouts worked towards the ‘Robotics’ Merit Badge by observing and playing with robots, attending Tech Talks, and competing in SumoBot competitions. Higher-level talks were given inside where many of our Discussion Forum members congregated and showed off their projects. Vendors set up shop in our vendor tents and received a steady stream of interested customers. The rolling and flying robot competitions took place out back while on-lookers watched. After the competitions on Saturday, Chip Gracey, Parallax Owner, talked about the Propeller 2. Tours were very popular and filled up to over capacity every 20 minutes. Visitors began in the front office and ended in milling, manufacturing and shipping. We ended the weekend festivities with a raffle that raised $1200 for the Placer County Food Bank.
The action was non-stop for two days. Yes, we’re tired but it was so much fun and definitely an event to remember!
If you weren’t able to make it to the event check out the pictures. For those that were unable to attend or missed any of the action you can view recordings of the presentation that occurred inside:
