BASIC Stamp Fountain

This Project was submitted to Parallax by Alberto Geraci

The fountain was finished more than a year ago and the city government is waiting for a meaningful date for the official inauguration (such as Independence Day or another relevant holiday).

This water fountain is in front of the National Congress in Argentina. The pictures shown on this page are from a test run after work was completed.

There are 16 water pumps between 2.5HP and 3.5 HP. The pictures were taken from the control room that is located under a monument. The main pipes are 8" in diameter, the control system is electronics and the BASIC Stamp can control water flow, lights, sequences and schedules.

The control unit consists of two BS2P-24 modules. From the BASIC Stamp outputs the signal goes through SSIR (Solid State Relays) driver units that activate the valves. The communication between the control unit and the driver unit is run by RS-485.

The pipes that control the flow of water to the fountain are seen to the left and the lights and fountain jets are seen on the right. Below are two pictures of a night-time display of the fountain and the programmed board for this project.
