BASIC Stamp MOBO Family Overview
BASIC Stamp 2pe Motherboard
The MoBoStamp-pe has a footprint of less than four square inches. It includes a USB interface for programming and debugging from an attached PC. This USB interface is also capable of powering the motherboard, eliminating the need for a separate power supply when connected to a computer. For portable applications, there is provision for an external power source and for powering the system through an attached daughterboard.
Interface to the outside world takes place through the two daughterboard sockets. Plug-compatible daughterboards can handle external interfacing, data acquisition, sensing, and display functions. The PWR-I/O-DB card, for example, provides an interface for up to six Parallax serial (three-pin) devices and/or servos and provides separate voltage regulation and filtering for them. Watch for future cards that enable robot navigation and that provide environmental sensing, optical detection and measurement, network connectivity, and programmable logic controller (PLC) interfacing, to name just a few.

Parallax's BASIC Stamp 2pe Motherboard provides a compact, professional-grade platform for BASIC Stamp applications. With the "MoBoStamp-pe" and the growing assortment of plug-in daughterboards, you can integrate and package one-off or multiple application systems with ease. The motherboard also includes two onboard AVR coprocessors, which provide four 10-bit analog input channels and the ability to offload compute-intensive and background tasks from the BASIC Stamp. |

Daughterboards
Parallax's PWR-I/O-DB is a daughterboard that plugs into the BASIC Stamp 2pe Motherboard. It provides both power and a handy interface to potentiometers and servos, along with Parallax's various three-pin devices.
Parallax's BASIC Stamp 2pe Proto-DB Prototyping Daughterboard is a convenient through-hole board that allows you to build your own circuits with the MoBoStamp-pe. |
TCS230-DB color sensor daughterboard is a complete color detector, including a TAOS TCS230 RGB sensor chip, white LEDs, collimator lens, and standoffs to set the optimum sensing distance. It plugs directly into the BASIC Stamp-2pe Motherboard and will also interface to any BASIC Stamp module or Propeller board using the optional DB-Expander SIP Converter (coming soon). The TCS230-DB can detect and measure a nearly limitless range of visible colors. Applications include test strip reading, sorting by color, ambient light sensing and calibration, and color matching, to name just a few.

The 7Seg-DB daughterboard modules each provide four digits of LED display, including some alphabetic and punctuation capability. The master module, 7Seg-DB(M) (#28312), plugs directly into a Parallax motherboard, such as the MoBoStamp-pe (#28300).
With the master module installed, up to seven additional slave modules, 7Seg-DB(S) (#28313), can be added, daisy-chain-style, for a total of 32 contiguously-displayed digits. |

Parallax's Daughterboard Extension Cable provides a convenient connection between the BASIC Stamp 2pe Motherboard and MoBoStamp-pe plug-in daughterboards |
This power cable allows you to connect external power to the BS2pe Motherboard without the need for the Power I/O Daughter card. Just connect the mating connector to the External Power connector on the Motherboard and supply 6-9VDC.
