 Better Mousetrap

Michael Flechtner’s animated neon artwork “Better Mousetrap” is located above the parking entrance of the Brentwood Place Mall on Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles, at the corner of Brockton St. This BASIC Stamp® project was engineered by Guy Marsden of ART TEC. The animations are randomly timed and interactive with each other. When the dipping bird (center) is down, food items are thrown from the spinning gyroscope to the crab which catches them. If the bird is up then the crab tosses pearls up, which then land in the bird’s glass.
