2004/05 SX Design Contest
SX-Creeper A 24-Servo Output - Six Degrees of Freedom Input Stride/Gait Engine with a serial command processor and a Six Channel Radio Control receiver input, the SX-Creeper offloads the locomotion processing and servo control for six and eight legged robots, thereby freeing the robot's main processor to perform advanced sensory collection and decision-making tasks.
SX-Based Portable Digital Logic Analyzer

A small, low cost, battery-operated (or AC-powered) logic analyzer that can be recharged and taken anywhere it is required.

S.A.M.: Semi-Autonomous Micro Air Vehicle

The combination of a fabulous swept-forward tailless aircraft model and the very fast SX microcontroller made it possible to design a semi autonomous micro air vehicle, called SAM.

SX Video Module

This project uses the Ubicom SX processor running at 50MHz to generate NTSC video signals creating a character display on a TV or monitor.

Balance Bot

A computer-controlled motorized cart that balances a thirty inch long aluminum pole, much like balancing a broomstick on your finger.

Pre-Emptive Real-Time Multi-Tasking Operating System (RTOS)

This RTOS is intended to facilitate such situations where the task in question will conveniently suspend itself, permitting another task to run, or alternately, should another higher priority task need to run, then the lower task will be suspended by the RTOS.

Extensible Shift Light

This project started out as a simple shift light, since no suitable unit (predictive time dependent shift points, decent number of lights, configurable, robust, cheap) existed on the market.

Door Velocity Measurement

A door closing velocity meter is constructed using an SX28 to process the signals from an external sensor, calculate and display door closing velocity.

Light Pen

By accurately timing the amount of time between when the horizontal SYNC takes place, and when the scan line is received from the Light Pen we can determine the Pen location within a reasonable accuracy.

Small Hardware and Development Prototyping Board for the SX28

The purpose of this product is to provide a multi-function development platform for the SX28 processor.

Stereo Amplifier

A digitally-controlled stereo amplifier. With the help of several ICs the amplifier controls the balance, treble, bass, six stereo inputs, mute, stereo selector, stereo enhance, loudness and power.

Surf Camera A unique web enabled camera with pan/tilt/zoom control. The camera provides streaming video of the surf to a web page while the field of view can be controlled from a graphical user interface the same web page. This surf camera gives local surfers a current view of the wave conditions.
Square Wave Generator

The Square Wave Generator is a single chip pulse generator for frequencies of: 1hz, 10hz, 100hz, 1khz, 10khz, 100khz, 1mhz using the SX18AC/DP.

Comfort Meter

In an automotive research and development environment, one of many projects is to perform objective and subjective evaluation of the vehicleÍs Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system performance.

Duty Cycle Measurement

This project uses the SX microprocessor to measure and display an unknown duty cycle whose frequency is typically between 10 and 300 hertz.
