Stamps in Class™ is your kind of Program!

The Parallax Stamps in Class program was created entirely by educators. Educators wrote the initial text(s), reviewed the work of Parallax, and identified the BASIC Stamp® hardware that is most suitable in the classroom. Parallax has become the leading microcontroller supplier for education simply by following your guidance.

Because educators new to microcontroller programming often ask us who uses our products, we've assembled these testimonials. Provided yours is honest, we'll post it here. Submit your feedback about Parallax and the Stamps in Class program by e-mail so other educators can learn from your experiences.

Dear Parallax,

It has been my pleasure to have ordered a number of products from Parallax in the past. Your commitment to customer service has always been out of the ordinary.

I recently dealt with Parallax on obtaining some prizes for a local student design expo. These prizes, which were monetarily worth a good bit, were given to us at no charge. This was a tremendous support of the work of these students and their faculty. I am happy to say that the same level (or better!) of outstanding customer service was given to me on this occasion. It seems that Parallax's commitment is not motivated by business concerns alone, but by a sincere desire to please the customer and out of great personal interest in education, electronics and robotics.

Please let everyone know how much this is appreciated. I look forward being a "paying" customer again soon.

"Please be advised that, this semester, I used Chapters 1 and 2 of the WAM PowerPoint presentations in the last lab session of my two Introduction to Programming classes. These lessons were enthusiastically received by the students who worked along using Homework Boards. It was a terrific summation to a semester in which programming had been taught using Visual Basic. With the encouragement of our Chairperson, Stu Asser, this activity will be expanded to two meetings in all sections of the course in the coming semester.

One more note, our Toddler has now become an integral part of our department's recruitment efforts."

"Hello Wonderful People At Parallax! (I bet you get that greeting a lot!), I just received my order and was pleasantly surprised to find a free copy of The Nuts & Volts Of BASIC Stamps Vol. 4 included in the box. I hope this wasn't a mistake. If it was, please lose my name and address and forget you ever got this email. If it wasn't, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Even though I have been a N&V subscriber since 1998 and have most of the columns, it sure is a lot handier to have them all in one convenient location, which is why I have N&Vs vol's 1 through 3. This brings my collection up to date, and for that I thank you. Hey, wait a minute - I just thought of something... you're not trying to get me hooked on BASIC Stamps, are you?

Well, you're too late. I got my first BS2 back in '98 and this year I added the BS1 and with this order the BS2p. I have built projects for my home and an industrial controller for a customer of mine. I'm very excited to try out all the new commands available to the BS2p, especially the ability to call different programs from within a master program. You may be interested to know that I gave the WAM kit to my 11-year old nephew for his birthday this March and he is now hooked as well. Ditto for a close friend of mine. I made him buy the kit when I got my nephew's (the last two at RadioShack!), and this past Tuesday he ordered a BS2p. It was the blinking LED experiment that got both of them. Just like me.

I'd also like to comment on the new editor - Bravo! I love it! There are so many things I like about it I can't list them all here. Thank you for making such wonderful products and especially for the support and resources on the website. You guys (and gals) are great!!! Thanks again."

"I just received word that I have been selected as the 2004 RadioShack Teacher of the Year for the State of Arkansas. This award is given for innovative uses of technology in the classroom. I feel that Parallax had a great deal to do with my being selected. I have mentored and encouraged many students who have used the BASIC Stamp 2 module for science projects, robotics, and special school projects. The ease with which a high school student can quickly master the PBASIC programming and the clear instructions and illustrations given in the Stamps In Class courses makes students' success a forgone conclusion. Please keep updating the curriculum and keep developing new sensors. It has really made a difference in the interest that my students take in science and it has given me a creative outlet that has enhanced my professional development. Thanks again."

-Scott Ausbrooks, Harmony Grove High School

"I would like to thank your company for your energetic and unfailing dedication to education. I have been on the Parallax Educators group for a short while, and am impressed with the new curriculum you folks are generating. I continue to be amazed at the new experiments, and improvements to the old ones, that is ongoing. I wish kids in schools could spend more time working hands-on with the BASIC Stamp microcontroller, rather than unending hours listening to factual litanies. If we could teach our kids to think, and enjoy doing so, our country would be much better served!"

-Charlie Knox, Southwest Wisconsin Technical College

"I just participated in one of the best in-service training opportunities I have had in a long time ... The course is to teach teachers how to teach micro controllers and robotics in their classes. The presentations were well planned and centered on hands-on activities. Additionally the teachers walk away with "stuff" that is worth more than twice the tuition. All the "stuff" is directly related and usable in your classrooms."

-Mark Spencer, ARRL Amateur Radio Education & Technology Program

"You guys come out with stuff faster than I can learn how to use it."

-Matt Miller, Engineer

"It is with the continued support of companies like Parallax that make our job of teaching life long job skills to our students much more meaningful and productive."

-Arlo Lusby II, Mt. San Antonio College

"For years I have been telling our faculty how neat it is to use the BASIC Stamp module with senior design engineering projects. I have had several very successful design teams use the BASIC Stamp microcontroller. Well, this year they finally woke up. There are at least three ongoing projects using the BASIC Stamp module and I hear ten mentioned. Hmmmmmm, C and assembly just bit the dust!!"

-Blair A. Rowley, Wright State University

"I received my order from Parallax today. As usual, everything was received on time and in tact. I have been extremely impressed with the efficiency and quality of your service. I appreciate that even as a small customer, I still receive such excellent service and support in the educational area."

-Dan Radcliffe, Fairlawn, New Jersey

"The BASIC Stamp microcontroller is the single best, fastest way to teach people electronics, programming, computer technology, and microcontrollers, all at the same time. Thanks for giving us all the chance to work with Parallax for two very full days at our Educator's Course in Eastport, Maine!"

-Jon Bragdon, St. Croix Regional Technical Center

"I have been a physics teacher for 30 years now, and have attended a great deal of courses in that time, and I can unreservedly say that the BASIC Stamp course taught by Parallax was the most enjoyable, informative, and professionally useful course I have attended. I have now regained enthusiasm and interest in this field and hope to incorporate the BASIC Stamp microcontroller into my classroom program."

-Ian Tennant, Lincoln High-School, New Zealand

"Santa Claus bought me a BASIC Stamp module in December, and I've been enjoying it since. The best thing about the BASIC Stamp microcontroller, for me, is the wealth of high-quality tutorial material on (your) website. I can't say enough good things about the BASIC Stamp microcontroller!"

-Tom P. O'Brien, Shell Services International, Inc.

"This past weekend we got the results back from the first group of students (about 75 total) using the 'Application of Microcontrollers Manual - Introduction to the BASIC Stamp microcontroller' and the BASIC Stamp Activity Boards for the first labs. Things are going great! The students are now asking for more to do and the equipment is doing fine. We are pretty happy to be getting these results!"

-Martin Hebel, Southern Illinois University

"The BASIC Stamp 2 module and Board of Education® carrier board have been the greatest advance to come along in years, as far as teaching digital and microprocessor control. I am speaking as someone who regularly teaches a course in microprocessor control using the Motorola 68HC11. I wish I had the time in the curriculum to devote a whole semester lecture to the BASIC Stamp 2 module because of how easy it is to get this device to do what you need a microcontroller to do. It has no rivals in this regard - and students and industry personnel can do much more with it in less time. By the end of the semester students were advertising their 68HC11 development kits for sale. They had purchased the Board of Education Full Kits."

-Professor Don Zimmerman, California State University, Long Beach

"The Stamps in Class package is an excellent way to introduce students to microprocessor control. I can take students with very little electronics and computer background and turn them loose on the projects while advanced students develop their own projects."

-Mike Smith, Francis Tuttle Bruce Gray Center
